The magic of the internet just keeps on coming. Recently the technology has been taken over by teachers of all sorts of stuff, from how to make money to how to conquer stress to the thing we’re most interested in, how to play a guitar.
With all the sites that give guitar instruction it can hard to sort them out. But here are some of the things you should look for in internet guitar lessons plus some other great advice.
Would you like to play different types of music? If so, select a tutorial that covers the different areas. If you’re planning to be a well rounded musician, you should have at least some knowledge of the various types of music that exist. After all variety is the spice of life. There is no type of music that is intrinsically better than another.
Guitars are neat because they are adaptable to so many different musical areas. There are also so many different types of guitars. You should keep your mind open so that you become familiar with all types of guitars and music, even if you don’t become an expert in every one of them.
Your internet tutorial should teach you to do things the proper way. If you learn something incorrectly and that keeps you from playing as you would like, you have to first unlearn what you’ve learned, then learn and practice the correct methods. Be careful about this element of instruction. It’s trickier than it sounds.
With all the digital recording devices available, it shouldn’t be long into your guitar career when you’ll want to make a recording. Don’t hold back. You’ll probably discover a lot about your playing ability listening to the play back.
